Am I the only person who thinks we are using too much salt on our roads? On a really cold day, the sidewalks downtown are bleached white form the salt. Then it thaws and all that salt is absorbed by the water and goes directly into the lake. How many years have we been doing this? Of course in our case, the lake empties into the Atlantic Ocean but in the St. Lawrence River, east of Montreal, how salty is that river water? Just wondering.
